Vignoles
Vignoles, our oldest variety was planted in the mid-1970's, by Ann and John Martini (of course with the help of family and friends). Not necessarily a grower's grape, due to moderate vigor and yields, this variety makes an elegant wine with rich fruit characters balanced by a pleasant acidity.
This semi-sweet style of Vignoles, served well chilled is a great match for soft, mild, creamy cheeses, or sipped slowly as the sun sets.
Other notes
If Mother Nature allows, we will do several picking of vignoles. This allows us to make a semi-sweet style, and commonly a late-harvest style. On a rare occasion we will make an off-dry style vignoles. It is about the balance of sugar and acidity with Vignoles!
